This video has no discussion while it runs. It simply demonstrates an artist's sequence for creating some ear rings.
To start, a few hoops are glued together. This is done by aligning them on a rolled piece of silicone. This is quite clever. The rings are very closely aligned and the resin won't stick to the silicone, so it doesn't require much labor to clean up the rings.
The groups of 3 glued rings are placed in a large round casting mold. Several colored resins are brushed into mold, filling it about halfway.
Then, some small gold leaves are placed in the mold and covered with a clear resin. Then some more color is swirled into the mold. Several layers are built up to add depth to the colored layers. The gold leaves are partially visible and blend into the layers of resin.
Once the part has cured, it is popped from the mold and sanded with an abrasive foam pad. After this, a clear coat is applied. An inner ring of rhinestone is also added along with a couple links that attach to an earring hook.
In this video, a uv-curing resin was used, though one could use a regular epoxy as well. However, using the glossy final coat yielded a clear and smooth surface without excessive polishing that might otherwise be required.
This is a great tutorial video and demonstrates some neat techniques to create beautiful pieces.
