This is an absolutely amazing project. The creator has taken a large conference room table and given it an epoxy finish with a rich and beautiful wood grain like finish.
In the video, the creator shows many tricks to create this wood grain type finish. He uses multiple batches of epoxy with different colors including black, olive, bronze, gold and cream. Another great trick is to use a scraper with a pointy sawtooth edge to allow spreading the epoxy while mixing the various mixes of epoxy. At the end, he uses a torch to pop bubbles. He also uses an alcohol spray to help thin the surface and prevent bubbles leaving a fish eye on the table surface.
This project covers a very large surface with a large volume of epoxy. The table is 16' by 4' and they are using 4 gallons of epoxy.
With a project this large, its important to have some help to make sure you are not rushed by the epoxy set time. You also want to carefully prepare. Ensuring the floor is protected with a heavy duty plastic and making sure that all your supplies are availble without needing to walk off the plastic will keep the room you do this work in clean. Inevitably, you will get epoxy on your shoes. If you have to remove your shoes to get a tool or some other thing you need to complete the work, you are going to be wasting precious time taking off your shoes and putting them back on.
